Before and After Kitchen Remodel Gets a Major Upgrade!
Updated flooring, new cabinets, and some clever storage help bring this Evanston kitchen up to date!

This photo was taken during our first visit to this Evanston home to meet with the homeowner, where we discussed ideas to provide a more modern and updated kitchen remodel. Outdated oak cabinets, old appliances, and limited cabinet space made this Evanston kitchen a perfect candidate for a Lotus Home Improvement upgrade.
The homeowner’s vision included updating the flooring in the kitchen and dining area, adding recessed lighting to the current dark space, new fresh paint, a subway tile backsplash, and quartz countertops. Making better use of an existing cubby hole, and adding additional cabinetry to increase storage space in the small galley kitchen was also at the top of the list.
During demolition we removed a wall beside the refrigerator and added more cabinetry, incorporating a pantry cabinet, more drawer storage, and an additional work surface. We also removed the soffit along the back wall which allowed for taller cabinets and added small cabinets above the windows. An existing cubby hole was fitted with matching cabinet doors and built-in custom shelving to help it blend seamlessly with the rest of the kitchen. With all of these changes the usable space in the kitchen nearly doubled.

Before and After Upgrade!
White Shaker-style cabinets, a classic white subway tile, and new quartz countertops brighten up the kitchen and provide a fresh clean look. Neutral gray porcelain floor tile provides a durable surface and allows the new cabinets and countertops to shine.
Despite several surprises including a hidden radiator under the cabinets and some extensive work needed to create a level surface for the flooring this remodel was completed right on time.
The current tenant recently had family over and summed up their reaction with this statement, “Wow….just, Wow!”
